The Bavarian Lower Main region consists of the independent city of Aschaffenburg as well as both rural districts of Aschaffenburg and Miltenberg. A distinctive characteristic of the Bavarian Lower Main region is its mixture of economic potential and efficiency, its beautiful countryside and a high standard of living. This area is well-connected to the German highway system, Autobahn A3 and A45 run through the Lower Main region. Aschaffenburg has a trimodal container terminal with junction to Rotterdam. The river port is integrated into the freight rail traffic and therefore also connected to Northern German sea ports. Numerous long distance ICE trains stop at the Aschaffenburg central train station on a daily basis. The Frankfurt Airport as European air traffic hub is only 50 km away and can easily be reached in about 30 minutes by car.
