Professional qualifications within Germany
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Chemnitz is responsible for equivalence if
- the submitted application is for a qualification in industry, trade and (in) the service provision sector,
- the applicant’s place of residence is in the district of South-West Saxony (equivalence under Art. 37 EC Treaty) and/or
- the profession is to be carried out in South-West Saxony.
How can I apply for equivalence and/or recognition?
You must make an application for a certificate of equivalence of examination reports and/or recognition of professional qualifications or an expert statement. You can find the form for this in the download area.

- by email but only if you sign the form with an appropriate electronic signature.
What documents are required for equivalence?
- Copy of identity card or passport
- A CV in tabular form
- Copy of official documents in the case of name changes
- Copy of the original professional certificate and original report
- Declaration that no other German Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Chambers of Crafts and Trades or other authority have been asked to examine these documents.
All copies must be officially certified. You can send the documents by post or deliver them in person.

A fee of €30.00 is charged for the review and processing of the procedure.
